. WHO? .

"There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep and the rivers dream, people made of smoke and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice and somewhere else the tea is getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do."
The Doctor

Call me Donna. I live far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the Western Spiral arm of the Galaxy, near a small unregarded yellow sun. I'm sure most of you reading this do as well; if you don't, I know a fellow with some questions about his sister. More specifically, I'm a Georgia girl and I love tea and peaches and soul food. I don't care much for Gone with the Wind or the dog days of summer.

I will tell you in a few words who I am: lover of the TARDIS that pierces to times and space beyond the vista where I now reside; lover of bright hair and the bright slaying hands of a guileless young woman bent to necessary, monster-slaying designs; lover of worlds that come in disc-shapes and travel through space on the back of the Great A'Tuin; still lover of that small pie-shop and that fair shire and that space station all alone in the night; and also still lover of eccentric genius Holmes, of the man who is not a number, of the midnight Imapala on American highways, and of the Grim Reaper who works 9-5. But most of all, lover of my quirky and analytical self. I was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a brilliant person in possession of a great love for literature and academia, must be in want of more education. And so I am: at the beginning of our acquaintance, you find me half-way through a Masters in English Literature, specializing in Victorian literature, with pen cocked and library at the ready. It is a time of thesis-writing and make no mistake: that frenzied look in my eyes is a mixture of passion and fear.

"So much time and so little to do. Wait a minute. Strike that. Reverse it. "
Willy Wonka

Besides being a full-time graduate student, I am also a writer and must work a part-time job. While that would be more than enough for rational people, I persist in engaging in more hobbies than are strictly healthy, from beading and photography to occasional icons and fanfic. I also like to read more than what is required for classes; obviously, I'm a bibliophile! Then there's the sometimes copious amounts of television, both new and old. I'm also trying to teach myself knitting. Needless to say, I am hardly ever bored.

I live with my husband Quixote, who luckily shares many of the same interests media-wise, and two cats who don't care what I'm into as long as it involves feeding and snuggles. We share an apartment where the walls are made of books, every morning begins with a cup of tea, and friends are greeted with baking.

This journal is where I let my fandom flag fly; I'm delighted to be here.

Once upon a time, I embarked upon a massive Buffy the Vampire Slayer analysis covering the film, television series, and certain comic runs. I completed a little more than half a season, and you can read it here (scroll to the bottom to reach the beginning). If you like it, comments will inspire me to work on it further!

If you browse Livejournal, I am there as ladyofjest.
